1021 Chasse d'Oudry Stag hunting was a noble amusement and one of the favorite hobbies of Lords at the time; this sort of scene was often used in 18th century tapestry. This hunting scene was created by the famous French animal painter, Jean-Baptiste Oudry. In a landscape surrounded by woods, horsemen prepare the pack of stag hounds under the blow of the horns. This tapestry represents a hunting hold in the Forest of Compiègne, in the north of Paris. |
