Inspired by an original design of David Tenier (1610-1690) made in Brussels
in 1651 in the Jérome Le Clerc and Jacques Van der Borcht's workshop. This
tapestry was woven in 1750 in the Van den Hecke's mill.
A popular subject for the weavers, fishing and trading scenes illustrate the
main activity of the nothern ports. "L'Arrivée au Port" captures the
strength and bustle of these marine themes, whose popularity is undiminished to
these days.
