1028 La Fête Flamande
2' 4" x 5' 4"
By David Teniers (1610-1690).
Lively scene of rustic country life.
Here the characters are more important than the setting. After the wedding,
the guests enjoy themselves to the full. Some of them are drinking and
conversing happily; the youngest dance to the strains of a violin. One can also
see the lords and ladies of the manor who have come to pay a visit to their
people on the occasion of the wedding. These scenes from pleasant life had so
much success that they were reproduce in France.
