After F. Boucher (1703-1770). Boucher had been a superintendant at the
Gobelin Manufacture since 1755. His sketches were extremely
popular.
Boucher's paintings are a faithful reflection of a gentle and refined time,
entirely dedicated to love libertinage and festivities. For him, nature is
only a context for graceful compositions, in which shepherds and shepherdesses
indulge in love, flowers and music.
